Astoria-to-Brooklyn Express

This is one of three chapters in the documentation of our move to Brooklyn and it is: Moving Day. I'll leave you with the impression created by the slideshow, which is that one of us did all the work and one of us played with the camera all day. Unless my spouse wants to debunk of course.

Despite our inexperience with relocating a full household (our last move was a mere station-wagon load of boxes and suitcases) the move went great. To our surprise, the whole of the packing was accomplished in about 12 hours total, and by the time the two Russians arrived with their truck on Sunday morning, we were sitting around twiddling our thumbs. Even greater surprise when we found ourselves parked in our new places, surrounded by all the boxes, in less than 4 hours. Who knew that moving was so easy??

Next installments: The New Dwelling, in Detail, and the New Neighborhood.

It's the kitchen doorway and it's actually not that narrow, just enormously tall! We've spent a lot of time trying to figure out why the heck they did that to the kitchen. In general, I feel in this apartment the way Grandma probably feels in hers--too short!
