to break the silence, congratulations Chris!

This past weekend Chris received his Master's degree from SAIS and Dad, Jean and I went to celebrate with him in DC. It was a really fun time and there are lots of stories to tell; we all got to spend some quality time at the infamous Daughters of the Revolution Hall, Chris got kissed by the SAIS dean, Jean came down with poison ivy on his feet.

The best gradutation pictures were probably taken by Dad seeing as he has a functional flash on his camera, and hopefully he'll share a few soon, but have a click on Chris's picture above for a handfull of ours.

I know baby Ilona has her own blog, but I thought I'd share this lovely one of her family, from last weekend at Grandma's Sunday lunch.

May is the Sneezing-est Month

Life is really hard these day for those of us who have partners with spring allergies. Poor us! The apartment strewn with tissues, the night-time snoring, the medicine cabinet clogged with every variety and titration of decongestants. I bought some of these for Jean the other day:



in the hope that having them would enable him to accompany me (and our three Scottish friends who are staying with us) to the Sakura festival in Prospect Park last weekend, but no luck. Though he did finally indulge us with a brief sit-down in the somewhat less blooming, and nicely river-breezy Rockefeller Park.
