For the architecture & design inclined

I thought my fellow form-conscious family members would appreciate this blog:

http://pruned.blogspot.com/

which I spend a good amount of time reading. Its full of interesting tidbits, all of which relate very loosely to landscape architecture. Sometimes there are stuningly beautiful photographs (like this post), and sometimes there are posts that really cross some cultural boundaries (like this one), and sometimes there are posts which I think are just bizarre (like this one)!

Preceding the pros

Here's Bill ready to play on the stadium course at the Tournament Players Club, the same course where the pros will be playing March 20-26. He's standing on what must be the highest point in northeastern Florida!

New to the blog: Ruth, who is planning to use the pseudonym "etahhagley" -- which she might perhaps choose to explain on the blog itself. Welcome etahhagley!

The wintry backyard

The wintry backyard

After reading Jean-Cedric's comment on Mombar's snowy scene, I thought bloggers might like to see what the real view from 705 looks like on a cold February day (temp circa 20 degrees Fahrenheit).

Lunch in Bethlehem, shortly before Christmas, with an unexpected guest (the big guy in the back). We think carrying that big pack around has worn out his right arm.

For the past six months it has smelled TERRIBLE on the Brooklyn-bound platform, especially near the stairs. I'm concerned about something decomposing... maybe in one of the storage closets? You can tell that the cleaning crew has been sluicing the platform with bleach to try to remedy it but the smell is always there. Passengers have to cover their faces to avoid becoming ill.

Please do a thorough check of this station to ensure that something vile hasn't occurred.

Thanks-

E. Maletz

Here are a few pictures taken in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. It's sunny, but not very warm, here in the Sunshine State.

Where in the world?

Fellow family blog members: Can you guess where this photo was taken? It was someplace that I've been in the last six months. I'd enjoy your using the comments section to make a guess. I'll post the answer after you've had a chance to guess!

Another photo from Christmas past. I can't remember what they were looking at on the computer, but it must have been good. A picture? A sudoku?

The newest member of our blog is Cynthia, of whom I have very few pictures at present. Here she is at her parents' home in December 05, smiling but with closed eyes. Cynthia is a great photographer, as we can see from her first posts below.

A grand hello from the West Coast!!

Unc D has formally requested some west coast representation ... so he has called upon this experienced blogger. As requested, I will try to keep up my photographic documentation to share with everyone. I'll start with these, that I took today! Today was too beautiful a day to pass up doing something outside, so I went to the Columbia River Gorge, and hiked to the top of Multnomah Falls with a friend. My best photos don't reflect the grandeur and size of the falls, but they're still beautiful!!

SingSingSunday

IMG_6268 IMG_6264 IMG_6258

On Sunday Jean and I met up with Charlotte and Carol at Westpoint for the much-feted Army/Navy basketball game. The outcome of that standoff was not favorable from the point of view of our particular loyalties (ie. Grant Carter!) but all other parts of the excursion were delightful. The train ride along the Hudson to Westpoint is probably my favorite in the whole greater New York public transportation network. Here's a full slideshow, click here to view it if you're interested, of the ride, including a picture of the SingSing prison. The hazy cast on the images is not for art's sake, by the way, but the very dirty Metro North train window!

Erv, in the best of moods

The very slowly unfolding stream of Christmas pix continues. This one is from the gift-opening event on Christmas morning, and Erv holds, I believe, his new earmuffs. We've had no winter, so I've not tried mine, but perhaps his have had some use.

What to do before the symphony -- have a fine dinner of course. The party assembled at the Palomino restaurant in downtown Dallas.
